I really wanted to get the Oregon Aero seats for my -8A, but the cost
was prohibitive...
So then, I was going to be making my own seats using ConforFoam
from Wicks, but the cost of the foam was too much for me. I had
heard good things about the seats that Becki Orndorff makes, and had
decided on getting those. Then I was looking on their
website one day
and found that they will sell you the uncovered seat foams for $150 so
you could cover them yourself... So that's what I got, but I had
them covered by a local custom shop... These pictures make them
look better than they really are. The foams were GREAT!, but I
am not very happy with the upholstery work. I should have just
gotten Becki to cover them in the first place...
Here's some pix of the finished [and I use that word loosely]
seats...
Below you can see some other things I tried, as well as the
drawings I had made for my own version of the Oregon Aero Seats...
Here is
an e-mail and some pix of the Oregon Aero seats Chris Santschi is putting in his
-8...
I Just bought Oregon Aero seats for my 8 after much thought and
research. They are pricey to say the least, but if you have visited
there web site, or have their catalog I'm sure you have read about"
painless seating", and how they use x-rays to illustrate how the
seats make your spine curvature in a more natural posture. Being a
Registered nurse for more than 10 years and having worked in
orthopedics I agree with them.
I found the people at Oregon Aero very easy to work with, the seats
are very comfortable, the foam is firm when cold but softens as it
warms to your body heat. Contrary to what was said on the list, they
are made up of lots of wedges of foam. FYI when I was having mine
covered, it has been about 2 weeks now, Dick & Jerry VanGrunsven were
at Oregon Aero, Jerry for interior for his 9, and Dick for the 7.
