I finally got the fuse out of the jig! |
 |
A couple guys from my EAA
chapter came over to help with the riveting of the last few skins, and
then we popped it out!
It only tool 10 weeks to go from a pile of parts to this... Now
the real fun starts!
Everything looks pretty straight, I'll know soon enough...

 |
I got the F-819 aft deck drilled and
clecoed. With the aft deck centered between the longerons, the
fuse was VERY level. I guess I built the damn thing straight after
all... |
 |
 |
I finished fabricating the rear deck parts,
and have them drilled and clecoed in place... |
 |
The floor is coming together. Now I
can see all the nutplates that need to be installed, I'll be dreaming of
nutplates for a while I bet... |
 |
More on the rear step. After
installing the thing, I noticed it was right in the way of where the
rudder cable needed to go, so I took it to a master welder friend of
mine for a fix... I also made a .032 doubler to go on the inside
of the skin to strengthen the rivet locations... |
 |
 |
He welded a tube into the main tube to accommodate
the rudder cable. I had to come up with a way to protect the
cable, so I went to Home Depot and bought some plastic tubing similar to
what comes on the rudder cable and will attach it with a zip tie like
you do up front... |
 |
I pretty much finished the floorboards
& foot wells. All I need to do now is drill the holes for the
nutplates, and start installing them... |
 |
 |
I am thinking of putting a piece of angle
on the front lip of the rear baggage shelf to keep stuff from simply
sliding off... |
 |
I also got the arm rests drilled in place,
but am going to wait a while before riveting them on... |
