I got the rollover bar installed. I had to stretch it to fit,
but it was easy to do, I used my engine hoist. I ran a 2x4 under
the legs of the hoist to hold one end of the bar, and hooked the chain
to the other. I had to stretch it about four inches to get the
3/4" I needed...
I also reinstalled my front seatback weldment. I removed the
shims and reinstalled it. It pulled the fuse in slightly when I
bolted it in, but not much, and now everything fits MUCH nicer...
Don't shim this thing, IT WILL FIT!
After much deliberation I decided to put an access door in my forward
baggage compartment for access to the back of my instrument panel.
Cutting out the door and being able to reuse it is the toughest
part. I used my trusty Dremel tool... I added .032 flanges
to the bulkhead for the door to close against with three nutplates at
the top.
I used a hinge on the bottom of the door that will rivet right to the bulkhead
and baggage wall during final assembly. I also had to rivet some
stiffeners to the door, I used some .024 angle. The fit is pretty
good I think...
I did some more painting this last weekend. I have the inside of
the fuse pretty much done...
I also got a bunch of other parts painted. All
in all, everything turned out pretty good...
I got the manual aileron trim systems pretty much
installed...
More painting of the fuse... I also mounted the front seat back
weldment and the windscreen rollover bar...
I decided that my back seater may need a map pocket, so I made one that
will attach to the right side of the fuse using nutplates... Now I
just need to find a place to put one for me...
