The wing fairings are fairly easy to install... I
started at the bottom at the hole that matches the lower fuse to wing
fairing, and then worked my way up... There is some trimming
involved as well... |
At right you can see the flap fairing on the right wing.
I still need to finish it and do the left one, which will be a lot
harder.....I have to cut it to accommodate the step... |
Here's how I installed the wing tips... First I
drilled the wing skins for rivets... Then I trimmed the tips to fit
the wings... Then I installed a piece of insulation board into the
tip so it would hold it's shape while I was drilling it to the wing... |
Here's the hand held belt sander I used to trim the tips
to size... This thing works great! I used it all the time for
glass work... |
Here you have the tips clecoed in place... I am
going to try to find some 3/32" pop rivets to attach them with... |
I modified the wing tip ribs to fit the tip between the
top and bottom where the wing skins end... |
Here are the completed and installed wing tips... |
The right side flap fairing was a piece of cake...
The left one SUCKED! |
What I did was made a cardboard duplicate of
the flap fairing and dinked with it until it fit... Then I used it
to cut the real fairing, but I cut it undersized... It took a few
test fits and a lot of trimming, but I finally got it to fit fairly
good... I will probably use CS4-4 blind rivets to install them... |

Here's the finished product... |
