More finishing stuff getting done... I installed
all the fairings and the wing walk so I could do some taxi testing... I also installed the
front seat, seatbelts, and data plate...
Here are some pictures of the weight and balance...
I borrowed the scales from another EAA member, he charges $50 for non EAA
members and $40 for members...
I am very happy with the weight... We put all the
fairings on the plane on or above where they will be installed to get the
right weight...
The empty weight with the fairings is 1005 lbs, and the
empty weight without the fairings is 996 lbs...
You can download a copy
of my W&B spreadsheet HERE.
Terry Edwards of Boulder, CO did the airworthiness
inspection... He only found 2 squawks and they were taken care of
before he was done with the inspection...
Here are some pix of the map pockets I installed...
They are simply .025 aluminum pop riveted to the inside of the canopy
frame... The width of the pieced is determined by the frame itself,
and the height of mine are 4"... The work great for storing
sectionals and the like, and the front one also worked well for
temporarily mounting my handheld until I get my panel mounted radio
installed... The lightning holes are handy for getting small stuff
out that might get dropped in there... I will be installing the same
thing on the other side soon...
Thanks to Stu McCurdy for the
idea...
At left you can see the ML [Meadow Lake] for our VAF Squadron.
At right
and below you can see the wheel pants are installed...
Installing the pant gave me 80 RPM and about a 10 MPH indicated airspeed
increase...
Once I got around to installing the gear leg fairings I got an additional
15 MPH indicated... Now I just need to get some intersection
fairings made...
I have ordered a new nose wheel pant. It's the new E-Glass [green
see through stuff], and is supposed to have a new shape that works better
than the old... We'll see I guess...
